Album Redesign

Derek and the Dominos is a band created in the spring of the 70’s by Eric Clapton. they had only one studio album know as “Layla and Other Assorted Love songs”.

The album is often considered to be the defining achievement of Clapton’s career.

Many of the songs in this album reflect Clapton’s growing infatuation with Pattie Boyd, the wife of his best friend, George Harrison.

Clapton decided to use the name Derek and the Dominos because as Derek he could write songs to steal Pattie from George. Everybody knew that he was crazy about her, even Harrison, he just didn’t care.

One night that Eric and Pattie agreed to meet and finally he played her “Layla“ telling her that it was the best song he ever wrote and he desperately wrote for her. That night Eric and Pattie didn’t stop kissing or holding hands until someone told George and he went to confront them. He asked Pattie who did she want and she quickly answered “George, I’ll go home with you“.

Eventually Pattie fell for Clapton and married him, but quickly realised he only cared about alcohol. The marriage wasn’t the happiest one with affairs on both sides and finally a baby by another woman resulted in their divorce.
