Molenstraat 33 Cleaning Kit

Molenstraat 33 is my house, I lived there with 3 other Indonesian students. living together with many people means that we need to share our responsibility for our house, and also for our environment. Especially here in The Netherlands, people really care about the environment. One way that we can contribute our help is by recycling and separating our wastes.

The objective for this design project is to help us (the residents in Molenstraat 33) to act more sustainably when cleaning our house, and also when separating our waste. To do that, I analyzed the desired socio-cultural dimension in our house.
Then, I analyzed and map the relevant cultural aspects in our house by using The Onion Model of Culture (Hoftsede, 1990).
I decided to come up with "The Cleaning Kit of Molenstraat 33".
The kit serve 2 functions, firstly it acts as a symbolic reminder that we to
take care of our environment, and secondly it provides guidance for our house weekly cleaning process. I want to add a twist of ritual to our weekly cleaning activities.
It is a cleaning kit that is given to each other like a rotating trophy.
The kit has HORTI, our rotating trophy that symbolizes our care for environment. Each week one person need to take care of the plant, making sure that the plant stay alive.
The person can also find sets of cleaning tools that are needed for cleaning our house. She can find a recycle guide card that can help her to decide how to separate the waste.
