Analog Type Face
The Lower Käse typeface you see here was created with a “found object” approach. We started by taking a gallon of milk and from there we made mozzarella cheese. Immediately after creating the cheese, while it was still hot, we formed our letters. Though it took a grueling 56 hours to recreate the characters out of our gooey curd, we managed to create something unique with a sense of classy flair. This typeface pays homage to a basic handwritten script font popular in the 1930’s and 40’s. The name of the font “Käse” means cheese in German, the reason we chose German and not Italian, from which the stretchy cheese was originally created, was because of our German heritage and our own love of making the delicious dairy.
