Introduction

[EN] Braciola is an Art Deco influenced typeface, that draws its inspiration from the Italian culture, gastronomy and "dolce vita". Its lines have been reinterpreted and modernized in order to develop a simple and nostalgic typographic vocabulary, one that is easy to apply. Braciola is a decorative typography that allows you to play with a variation of stylistic alternates to provide your texts with rhythm. This typeface is available in three weights : light, regular and bold.

[FR] Braciola est une typographie inspirée du mouvement Art Déco et de l’onirisme italien fortement présent en gastronomie. Ses lignes ont été réinterprétées et modernisées afin de développer un vocabulaire typographique simple, nostalgique et facilement déclinable. Braciola permet de travailler avec une typographie décorative, et de jouer avec des variantes de caractères pour rythmer vos textes. La fonte est disponible en 3 graisses : léger, normal et gras.

Histoire

[EN] LA STORIA Di BRACIOLA

The term Braciola refers to a culinary speciality from Sète, a south French city known for its port, that originally came from Italy. This dish is made of rolls of meat, mainly beef cutlet escalopes, seasoned with garlic, parsley, salt and pepper. These are often held with a wooden spike. It is a classic component of the typical macaronade from Sète.

[FR] LA STORIA Di BRACIOLA

Le mot Braciola vient de Brageole, traduit de l’italien. La brageole est une spécialité sétoise, d’origine italienne meridionale (it. braciola). Ce mets est fait de rouleaux de viande, essentiellement d'escalopes de paleron de bœuf, assaisonnés à l’intérieur avec de l’ail, du persil, du sel et du poivre. Elles sont souvent tenues avec une pique en bois. C’est un composant classique de la macaronade sétoise.

[EN] A CUSTOM MADE TYPEFACE FOR A "SÉTOIS" BISTRO

The Braciola typeface has been specially designed and custom made as part of the branding for "Le Boucanier", a typical pub, or bistro, from Sète (click here to discover this branding).

Created in 1969 by Arlette and Léon Chalaux, Le Boucanier quickly became the go-to pub in Sète because of its theme nights and other great shows. Located on the Aspirant Herber wharf, next to the canal, this place experienced several lives, from being a club, a cabaret or piano bar to finally becoming a pub known for its good food. In 2017, Nicolas Jean and François Domingues acquired this magnificent and history charged place. They redesigned the pub's menu, aiming to highlight local craft products, they created a new wine list, loaded with beautiful local references, and thus logically wanted to rework the visual identity of the place to restore its reputation and acclaim.

[FR] DESSINÉE SPÉCIALEMENT POUR UN BISTROT SÉTOIS

La typographie Braciola a été spécialement conçue et dessinée dans le cadre de la création de l'identité visuelle du bistrot sétois Le Boucanier (cliquez ici pour découvrir cette identité visuelle).

Créé en 1969 par Arlette et Léon Chalaux, Le Boucanier est devenu un lieu incontournable des sorties sétoise. Situé sur le quai Aspirant Herber, à proximité du canal, l’établissement a connu plusieurs vies. En 2017, Nicolas Jean et François Domingues ont fait l’acquisition de ce magnifique lieu chargé d’histoire. Après avoir repensé la carte du restaurant en valorisant les produits locaux et artisanaux, et après avoir créé une nouvelle carte des vins généreuse chargée en belles références locales, ils ont souhaité retravailler l’identité visuelle du lieu afin lui rendre ses lettres de noblesse.
