Lake of Braies UNESCO heritage

Crystal clear waters reflect the impressive Croda del Becco peak.
Lake of Braies, from 2009 is part of the world heritage of humanity (UNESCO). It is inside the Fanes Senes Braies Nature park, in Pusteria valley (BZ).
Legend has it that the valley was inhabited by savages, hard but rich as guardians of the gold and precious stones present in the area. When the shepherds brought an animal, they were given a gift, a golden object.
The shepherds became greedy for the precious of the valley and began to rob the savages. The savages, to protect their wealth decided to open underground sources flooding the area and submerging the precious stones creating the current lake, emerald green as the stones that lie at the bottom.
