The subject of my Bachelor’s graduation project is a desk task lamp. It’s distinctive feature is the usage of OLED lighting, which is the only available surface light source. It perfectly meets legal standards for workplace lighting. My aim was to design a universal task lamp that could also be of appliance in specialised workplaces of big areas (like architect’s or designer’s desk) due to 360° rotation.

The most unique part of the lamp is a sliding weight element placed on the stem, linked by a thin rope with the back part of the arm. It uses basic physics laws concerning weight and friction force to regulate the height of light source. It also introduces a new way of interaction with this type of lamps.
I carried out the project using digital technology (CAD/CAM program) to make a prototype of 3D printed elements and products available in hardware stores. It opens up a possibility for future introduction of the project as a part of Do It Yourself movement and distribution by providing .stl files and assembling instruction.
