Assignment 1 - Inner Monologue
In film, an inner monologue is most commonly used during a narration. Inner monologues can also be used when a character is talking to itself in some sort of head-space. In this assignment, we were required to record an inner monologue and edit the audio to which it fits with the theme of the video. Since the majority of the class decided to do a "bored in class" theme, I decided to go with the same theme, but with a little twist at the end. To give you a brief explanation of what happens in the video, the story begins with the main character (myself) brainstorming ideas for this exact assignment. After giving up, the main character goes on a little tangent about his class mate's t-shirt, later discovering some thing much more serious.

    Assignment 3 - Foley Effects
Brainstorming
1.  Why must they create every single sound for animations and games?
Sound should always be created for animations and games because they originally don't come with creating an animation or a game.

2.  Why can't actors/actresses actually smash a glass to have the real effect?
Actors and actresses don't smash glass because it is dangerous, costly, and could be too loud for a microphone.

3.  Why can't actors/actresses use real explosions?
The same reason why actors/actresses don't use real glass, using real explosions could also be too dangerous. Also, considering how loud an explosion really is, if you were to record an explosion with an expensive microphone, you are most likely going to have to purchase another mic due to blowing out your mic.

4.  Why can't movie crews install a real phone that actually calls the actor/actress?
Crews don't need to install real phones because it would be a bit time consuming and it would be completely unnecessary.

5.  Why can't actors/actress attach microphones to their ankles to record the actual sounds?
Actors and actresses don't attach microphones to their ankles because it would move around too much and create shuffling noise. There would also be a chance where the microphones can be seen in film, or the microphone can get damaged.

6.  Why can't actors/stuntmen and actresses/stunt women do their own fight scenes and actually make contact to make it look real?
Actors and actresses don't do their own fight scenes because they can potentially be injured, and cause visible bruise marks.

7.  How do sound designers/directors know what all these science fiction sounds are supposed to sound like?
I would think that sound designers and directors try to replicate other movies with alien sounds, but also use some of their imagination and creativity.
