Of the Sea
I'm really enjoying digital papercraft art and I learn more and more every time I make a piece which is great. This piece was another one I did just for fun, it was first sketched out then taken into Photoshop to create. I really love the colours for this one, I've started to plan out a colour palette for my work once I've sketched out all the line work digitally to make sure the colours all work nicely together.

The embossed anchor in the bottom right was just a little idea I had once I'd finished the piece. There's no real reason for it being there other than to look nice and add a bit more to the artwork itself but I thought it worked nicely with the handmade layered style I'm trying to represent.

What I might do to make sure I'm portraying the shadows correctly is make parts of the artwork in real paper to see what shadows are created and that way I can be sure my work looks are realistic as possible.

I'd quite like to work on some editorial pieces too so I think I'll create some mock up pieces for different news articles to see if I can make my work fit nicely within an article. At the moment I feel my work would work better in some sort of advertising campaign or poster which is great because I want to be as flexible as possible when it comes to work but editorial work may come round more often so I need to make sure that area is covered too.
