T-T Charity Days 2018

Being an in house designer sometimes means being restricted to a certain style and design. And as much as I love designing the next brochure, advertisement, web banner, leaflet, magazine for the company, my favourite part of my job was when we have charity days.

T-T regularly hold charity days to raise money for our chosen charity of the year. During my time at T-T we chose The Christie and My Name'5 Doddie. This also tied in quite well with our Sales Director Ben and Barbara in Telesales' bike ride- Ride for Hope (which I created the identity for) which was raising money for the same charities.

These Charity Days gave me the excuse to be a bit more creative with my designs and I thoroughly enjoy researching ideas and creating fun posters! Below are my favourites throughout my time at T-T:
Our first charity day of 2018, was to celebrate the May Bank Holiday because who doesn't love spending the Friday before a long weekend eating cake?!
I designed a poster based around the May Day tradition of Maypole Dancing. However moments after we release the poster around the office, the marketing team were informed that it was in fact Star Wars Day the day we had planned our charity day.

In response I quickly changed the design to fit the new theme. I tried to incorporate the old poster by making it look like it had be burnt through with a Light Saber.  We re-released the poster with the caption :'The force had abandoned the Marketing Department when the first poster was sent out'.
Every year T-T join Macmillan with their Biggest Coffee Morning. So we took a day to raise money for them instead of our chosen charities. With Bake Off returning to our screens once again, we took the opportunity to see who was the T-T Star Baker!
The poster is a simple icon based design. I really love creating icons so when I was asked to create a poster for the coffee morning I went back to what I love to make! I kept with the MacMillan colours to keep it on brand but also being inspired by the branding of the Great British Bake off with the typeface.
Christmas is huge at T-T, the office is completely redecorated with Christmas Trees, Tinsel and Fairy lights. Even though most days people are wearing Christmas jumpers, every year T-T join Save the Children with their Christmas Jumper Day!
For the poster I knew I wanted to recreate the Christmas jumper look and I looked at how I could re-create the knit stitch in a digital way. I broke the brand guideline's rule about changing the company logo appearance but the end result made it more effective and was even praised by the boss. (and as the one who wrote the branding guidelines I think I was allowed to bend them for charity)
One of my final charity days at T-T was Valentine's Day. A holiday that is full of sweet things and romance what else would I use as imagery than the classic confectionary of Love Hearts? I wanted to keep this design simple, and having been in the middle of creating the company catalogue, using a different colour palette that was soft was a nice change of pace for me at the time.
