Old Skool Audio Equipment

Old Style TEAC tape deck and Luxman turntable
Various 3D models I have made and put together into one scene. Post production only in Photoshop.
Sony Walkman TPS-L2 (1979)
The very first device that enabled a person to take their music with them wherever they went. I had one of these in 1979 and believe me in those days people used to stop you in the street to have a look and like the ipods of today - there quickly followed many different models, almost month-on-month. Notice - it had 2 headphone sockets A & B and a big orange button that you could press if you wanted to talk to the other person using a front facing Mic, that feature soon got dropped.

Philips 3302 Tape Recorder (1965)
When I was 12 my parents got me one of these, it was my first real electronic gadget and I remember it well, I used it to record the music charts off the radio. I created an illustrator template from photographs to ensure the placement and proportions were correct. It's a simple no nonsense render.
Cinema 4D - A small amount of Photoshop - fingerprints and dulling of the edges.
TEAC Tape Deck and Grado Headphone
Used various pieces that I have modeled into one set-up.
Cinema4D with colour adjustments only in Photoshop.
TDK MA-R C90
This tape actually existed - in the early 80's this was one of the very best metal tape money could buy, the main body was made of solid metal with an outer plastic cover, I own 2 of them and they still work great today, not bad for something that's over 30 years old. The Singles that appear in this scene were photographed by myself from my collection of old 45s.
All created in Cinema4D and Photoshop.
AKAI Reel to Reel Tape Machine
Early Render - still needs work.

What my floor looked like in the 70's
I love ipad and ipods - however something been lost in the charm of the early days, the time spent creating mix tapes that I could carry around using my Philips tape deck and the early 1978 Sony Walkman. Presumingly in another 40 years we will look back on ipods with the same affection? Maybe - maybe not.
