We are huge fans of retro lo-fi print aesthetics (including looks produced by old and dirty photocopiers, mimeographs and fax machines), but creating these looks physically is not always feasible and imitating them using real gritty textures digitally in most cases is quite laborious and time-consuming. But there is no design problem which cannot be solved, so we challenged ourselves to develop a technique which would allow to quickly & easily distress any types of graphics without any additional textures in Adobe Photoshop.
After all our experiments we came up with a unique combination of Photoshop Smart Effects which allow to distress type, graphics, illustrations and photographs, as well as generate 4 different kinds of gritty textures which one way or another could’ve come out an old and dirty photocopier — and now we are excited to share our special technique with you in our Skillshare Class Quick & Dirty Photocopy Effects in Photoshop!
