Texel is a condensed brutalist display typeface. It began its life as a rejected concept for a branding project studio io was engaged to produce. Although the concept was rejected the notion of exploring brutal geometry through typography really stuck with us.

Taking cues from the architectural movement of Brutalism the typeface deploys an overall ruggedness and complete lack of concern to look comfortable or easy. Overall the typeface is heavy, oppressive, cold, formidable but bold.
