Working with the Haiti Sustainable Education organization, the task at hand was to master plan a K-12 boarding school in rural southeast Haiti. Taking into consideration the issues of community, feasibility, safety, and the needs of the children, the master plan was refined and then one aspect of the plan was developed in detail.
The core goals of the master plan were to create opportunities for and encourage social connections across the hilly site. The final focus of the project became a large, multi-use amphitheatre space which acts as the public interface of the school on its public side while facilitating circulation and activity, as well as the other external connecting spaces between school buildings.
