But the aim here is to do something that will stand out more and that will attract a person of modern taste and maybe even the younger population. The visual aspect is of great imprtance. The other significant aim is to improve the portability of the iron due to the fact that ironing is extremly unpractical. Especially for someone who travels a lot. Ideally, the future iron would be compact as well as functional. But here lies the challenge. How to design an iron that is ultra small and at the same time functional.

At this point it was imperative to begin thinking about the possibility of a foldable iron.
Aim of the concept was to find out which design , when folded, would be the most thin, as this would increase its portability in a traveling suitcase.

When folded, the finished concept is a 13 x 20 cm wide and 3.5 cm thick chlothing iron. This dimention makes it esensially pocket size. Although it the apparatus is so small, it is incredibly compact. The water tank for instance, is located between the narrow space of the temperature protection surface and the main housing shell. Watr tank capacity: 150 ML. That is sufficient to fill the needs of a travelling person. The water supply door is hidden in the front of the iron, and can only be used when the iron is standing upright.
User interface of the iron consists of a single rotary switch that is approchable by fingers during ironing.
Surface treatment of the housing is a luminous black. The main reason for this is because the black color makes the object visually smaller. At the same time, black is also attracting male buyer population which is a category underexploited in the economic sector of steam ironing. Finish is glittering, for visual and hygienic reasons.
