This series Arabia I created together with Ines Cuesta because we were inspired by Taliban pictures that were bundled in a book by German photographer Thomas Dworzak. He found the portraits abandoned in an Afghan photo studio. These portraits, made in kitschy photo studio's are brilliant. The paradox in poses; though with drawn pistols while holding hands, are some of the pictures of the Taliban men. Carefully combined landscapes of Swiss mountains and the use of flowers and other props make the portraits weirdly enchanting considering the world they come from. Read Less
