Client: The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is a division of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) focused on conducting analytical studies and providing information in support of institutional planning, policy formulation and decision making. The OIR regularly produces three main types of reports, an annual Fact Book, standard reports and special reports. Both the standard reports and special reports aim to offer concise presentations of data and analyses related a specific topic. Within OIR, The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Student Success Initiatives (OIESS) provides leadership and support in research, planning and assessment to members of the NOVA community engaged in planning and evaluating the College’s success in accomplishing its mission.
Project: Working with a small team of designers and researchers, Spotlight was created as a monthly publication, producing regular issues every semester, of NOVA’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness & Student Success. Spotlight graphically presents data regarding issues that affect NOVA students, faculty, and community, to encourage understanding of specific topics, issues, and discussions of strategies for addressing them.
