Intervention in a Pastoral Landscape
After designing and casting tiles in glass, I decided to use the geometrical design of the tile as a plan for creating a large, outdoor, sculptural space. I imagined what the elevations would look like and how one would experience the sections.
The result is a liminal space, where one humbly enters to find a place of pause. Distinguished by the low slab, one can examine the glass tile as a sort of meditation map while in the shadow of the split spheres. A the light cast through the light well to the right of the entry completes the symmetry of the interrior space. Once finished with the tile, one exits along a wall that slowly sinks into the ground, absorbed by the landscape.
