Pan Am rebranding

RBOOT #1: PAN AM

BACKGROUDS

Pan American World Airways was originally founded as Pan American Airways. It airline existed between 1927 - 1991. Pan Am airlines service offered scheduled air mail and passenger service operating between Key West, Florida and Havana, Cuba. The Airline received different credits for new innovative technologies such as shaping international airline industry, wide spread usage of jet aircrafts, jumbo jets and computerized reservation systems.

The blue logo that Pan Am used which was also called "The Blue Meatball" was used between 1957-1991. Before it was a globe with a wing logo that was used between 1944-1957 shown below. They moved on to using a more clean and modern look of the globe which was used inside their ticket office counter signs, jackets, fabric coverings to blankets and more.

Using a original Pan Am airline and its continuous globe shaped logo, I wish to continue on with a sphere shaped logo design for its new identity that meets todays visual standards and to push forward a modern look that Pan Am was pursuing during their re-branding for their new looks and feel.

In order to keep the original intent and to keep the traditional global shapes into a new form, I have sketched out a few possibilities to see which shapes + design approaches work best with Pan Am airlines.
Different approaches to shapes including logo text ad the forms of lines to show a connection between the world and locations, I used different lines and shapes to represent a start and destinations around the globe and even brought in some old fashioned logo design to see if it will work together with Pan Am airlines.

From the initial sketches, I wished to bring a mixture of airplane shapes into round global designs together to make Pan Am a more unique and unified look for their new branding approaches.
