Brief:
Today, nutritional deficiencies are an increasing factor amongst old and young which can lead to higher health risks. Common nutrient deficiencies include Vitamin D, K2, B12, E and A, omega-3, magnesium, iodine, calcium, iron and chlorine. These are only the most common ones, prevalent in people of all ages. Iron deficiency affects more than a quarter of the global population, which is why I plan to release new brand of innovative supplement sweets, which is fun and inspired by the Roald Dahl book collection.

The sweets will be sold in a brand new old fashioned styled sweet shop, that has been modernised to suit todays generations. The shop will stock the vitamin enriched sweets as well as stocking other products in store.

The sweets will come in many shapes and sizes according to each character inspiration from the book series. There will be two ranges of sweets, one sectioned into a ‘Nice’ category for the characters which show good morals and another section – the ‘Naughty category’ which will show the bad vices of the characters.

The target market would be focus on teenagers as the optimum daily vitamin dose may be too high for those of a younger age and cause more harm than good. Not only this, but the Roald Dahl theme I feel suits teenagers better. I plan to incorporate the vitamin-enriched sweets into everyday life as a treat with health benefits. Each sweet will only have a small dose of vitamins in them, meaning that it would be safe to eat a lot without harmful effects. As the product is going to be mass produced and come in bags of around 100g each, and later on down the line a child-friendly twist would be made to address the issue of other vitamin deficiencies amongst the young.

The product competition would be Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe, which is an old fashioned styled sweet shop targeted at an older audience. The shop is very well known as successful franchise in the sweet industry.

Packaging and promotional materials needed for the product could be posters, sweet packets, sweet bags, sweet boxes, scoops, sweet jars, content leaflets and invitations to the opening.
