The Advocate for Children and Young People (ACYP) works to improve the safety, welfare and well being of all children and young people in NSW. They sought a novel solution for presenting the thoughts, ideas and opinions of children to a parliamentary audience. They were also seeking to improve how users submit survey responses including uploading video and audio recordings.
User Experience
Our Voices app is both a survey tool and AR experience in one. Initially, the app invites users to share their ideas on a topic via text, audio or video recording. Their contribution is uploaded to the app server and presented as an Augmented Reality 'idea cloud' superimposed on a 360 degree camera background, filling the user's surroundings with the voices of young people. Tapping on a speech bubble plays a recording and eventually the view is filled with the many faces of young contributors.
Deliverable
The app excelled as both a survey tool for collecting and consolidating mixed-media public submissions, and as a presentation tool for press and parliamentary events. The success of the app contributed towards ACYP securing a significant grant in the further development of their newly formed organisation.
