VALPARAISO POPCORN FESTIVAL MARKETING CAMPAIGN

POPCORN FESTIVAL
The city of Valparaiso hosts an annual Popcorn Festival for the community that sees over 60,000 attendees in just one day. They created a competition for artists to submit a poster design to be voted on and selected for the marketing campaign for the 40th anniversary.

Valparaiso is a beautiful city filled with diversity. As a community member, I view the Popcorn Festival as a an event that brings everyone closer together.  I designed a poster that highlighted all of the different types of groups that create the backbone of Valparaiso. The background of the winning poster shows different organizations and words that describe this beautiful city.
POSTER SUBMISSIONS
I submitted two different concepts for the 40th annual Valparaiso Popcorn Festival. Option one was a hand drawn illustration showing hands grasping a popcorn bag. It was designed to show how everyone in our community gets excited for the Popcorn Festival.  Option two was created to show how our community is the backbone of the Popcorn Festival. Descriptive words and various organizations create the background to symbolize how our community works together to host and participate in the festival. Option two was selected for the 2018 marketing campaign.
When my poster design was selected by the committee, I was asked to create a button design and horizontal formats to be used for the festivities. My design was used for a variety of assets which included posters, buttons, t-shirts, newspaper articles, signage and brochures. I also designed a popcorn box.
