Designer’s Statement: I began this project with the objective of representing trends in degrees awarded from Virginia educational institutions in the past decade. I used a data set provided by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. I wanted the infographic to convey the narrative that while, yes, the number of degrees awarded is rising across the board, what is really remarkable is the significant spike in advanced degrees awarded from private institutions. This graphic would hopefully spark a conversation about the implications of this trend.
