Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated
Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated is a collaborative artistic mash-up of George Romero's cult classic. Nearly 150 International artists and animators chose their favorite scenes and re-envisioned them through their own artwork, with no restrictions on style, media or process - resulting in an eclectic 'art show' interpretation of the seminal 1968 film, all placed over the original's audio. With work ranging from oil paintings to comic illustrations and sock puppets to CGI and stop-motion - NOTLD:R not only pays the respect due to this most important work in horror history, but encourages viewers to experience the film in a brand new light that bursts with the humor and horror of a new generation of artists. Art is dead...yeah, it's all messed up.

My Submissions
Having no experience in animation at all before this project, my first submission was done in a technique called the "Ken Burns Effect." Images pan across the screen to make up the video.
I decided to take a stab at actual honest to goodness animation. I got a lot of helpful tips from the project director Mike Schneider. I chose a small segment with a constant background and not much movement in the foreground. I was quite impressed at my first ever animation.
The third submission wasn't as impressive as the one before but I wanted to tackle a longer segment. I tried to use some shortcuts, reusing some frames, but I think it shows. Ben continues to board up the house.
Despite the hard work and working-all-night, I wanted to do more. Next up, having been so inspired by the director's own animation I tried it again with another longer segment. I wanted it to look better than all the rest. This is the longest of my animated submissions.
Next, I wanted to tackle a segment with more moving parts. The next two segments have a background image with moving middle and top layers. This initial segment is the Cemetery Zombie coming up to the house.
Follow up to the previous segment. The Cemetery Zombie gets closer and takes down a clothes line.
My final submission to make it in the movie was short yet sweet. I got praise for it being one of my best. Barbra's locked in the car as the Cemetery Zombie breaks in a window, this is her reasction...
