Editorial project for duellanti cinema magazine. Art direction, graphic design, illustration, post production and image retouching. Duellanti is an italian film rating magazine since 1993. The magazine is known for its sharp critique and for its poetic view of the cinema art. It counts several important reviewers from all over the world that give it a distinctive imprint among the other italian movie magazine. It's a small creative team, not conditional on the great movie business. That's the reason why duellanti collected many readers during the years. DUELLANTI MAGAZINE

In 2007 the magazine needed a complete visual restyling. Together with Stefano Colombo, creative director of Publicis Milan, I designed the complete editorial image of duellanti.
The header "duellanti" is composed in DIN bold italic. It's divided in inline & outline because of the changing of the name from Duel to Duellanti. The founder wanted to keep both words to maintain continuity between the readers.

Covers of the three main sections of the magazine. Each of them is identified by a color treatment of the image and by the big pattern.

The entire editorial project is inspired by patterns. We wanted to give it a modern image, closer to architecture magazine than movie ones. Each pattern and colour identify a specific section of the magazine.

The magazine is composed in Clarendon Text Pro and DIN families.

The magazine is composed by more than 15 different sections between main sections, letters, reviews, columns. Each of them has a tipycal visual language. For example "PAROLE" contains articles that reveal differences between opposite words in the cinema world. Stand By Me it's an amarcord based on tha movie that has changed our lives.

Crash is a specific section of the magazine; due to its explicit contents it is designed upside down. It stands in the middle of the newspaper and begin with the last page of the article.

Covers for the special reports comes every month with different visual and headers.
