As homage to traditional furniture, and woodworking in general, a great amount of detail was made in constituting exposed joinery techniques, such as the theme of using through tenons.  Along with this idea, the butterflies that bind the back of the chair together pay tribute to this tradition.  However the slight angles and curves brought into this piece allow for a sense of playfulness within the contemporary furniture setting.
