Portraits Aveugles : artistes
This series of portraits is called "Portraits Aveugles", which literally means "Blind Portraits", and that's exactly what they are. Basically, I drew each of them by looking exclusively at the reference picture and not at all at what I was drawing. I then added "attributes", which are reccurent elements in the artist's work or an iconic piece (or detail) by said artist.
This concept of drawing blindly is something I enjoy very much, because it frees from everything that can potentially block me in art. It's just my hand and my brain doing the thing, completely instinctively and freely. I also think it gives a very interesting result, with a kind of naive look, like a child drawing. Some portraits are particularly interesting to see because they indeed look like who they represent, while being completely different. The features are the ones that my hand juged the most representative, and although they are not placed in the correct "order", they transmit the idea of the face and its most notable features.
I would love to read your opinion on this series!
Thanks for watching!
