Solo in Cartolina X Refugees Welcome
Solo in Cartolina is a great project started in Summer 2018 by a bunch of  young Italian communication professionals to protest against our goverment anti-human immigration policy, and to support NGOs work within different fields of social integration. The campaign is an open call to create summer postcards depicting the tragedy that happens every day in the same sea we happily dive into during our summer holidays. The postcards will be sent in 10k copies to our prime minister during a flash mob at the end of September.

Step 1
Me and Ilaria Cairoli were more than happy to join this "creative fighters" army, as we truly despise the culture of fear our government is building consensus on.
The postcard we spontaneously created was inspired by vintage Italian holiday graphics. It featured a typical vintage retro iconography and a custom lettering inspired by those found in 30's italian advertising.

Step 2
After that, we were asked by the guys who started the campaign to create a special postcard for Refugees Welcome, a NGO that helps refugees find families willing to host them.
The concept was based on a quote from Italo Calvino Invisible Cities

“Il vento, venendo in città da lontano, le porta doni inconsueti, di cui s'accorgono solo poche anime sensibili, come i raffreddati del fieno, che starnutano per pollini di fiori d'altre terre.

that we found great to express about how the influence from far away countries can be a powerful enrichment to our land and our culture. We started from the idea of "flowers from other lands" and the depicted an enlarged family sitting on a couch, in a welcoming environment, sorrounded by luxuriant inflorescences, used as a metaphor for a culturally prosperous society.
