10-Minute Watercolor Challenge

This collection of small paintings, roughly 5.5" x 7.5", is the result of a challenge I set for myself as a way to create looser results in my artwork by setting a time limit. This restriction forces you to just dive in and go for it rather than getting caught up in the details. Doing this type of exercise on a regular basis has helped me expand my skills as a watercolor artist.

While this piece was a result of this challenge, I did allow myself to spend a little bit more time on it. I think it took me around 30 minutes in total. It is my favorite piece from this exercise.

While I was able to paint the entire rooster in the 10 minutes, I felt it looked odd without a background, so I added that quickly after the timer had gone off.
