Pure Photography | Ambiguous Space

Photography is "drawing with light". Pure photography means that the light itself creates an abstract image on a light-sensitive medium (film or camera chip) without beeing affected by a subject from the human world of experience or, as the Bauhaus Master L. Moholy-Nagy wrote in 1927, the light-sensitive plate fixes the light modelled by mirrors, lenses or transparent crystals etc.
In this abstract microphotographic project the aim is not the imaging of an object, but rather an optically active sample (pinhole, slit, grating, opaque stop, spherical lens etc.) is used to modulate the light beam normally used to create a magnified image of a microscopic object. In this series "Ambiguous Space" moving light creates two dimensional images with a geometric distribution of tones. Our brain, desparately searching for associations from the real world, interprets differences in brightness as spatial information. Our cognitive apparatus can be cheated so easily.
