Tell me more! Tell me more!

My name is Bryan Connel and I am a first year philosophy student. Being in first year involves the big transition from high school to university; trying to find that balance between work and a social life is not easy. Joining the King’s Players was an excellent decision because I can take my passion for theatre and share it with like-minded people. King’s Players is such a welcoming group and there are many ways that you can get involved other than participating in the production. Who knows, you might even surprise yourself. I ended up participating in Improv Survivor 24-Hour Theatre, and was fortunate enough to be in the production of Grease as Eugene. We are such a close group with a strong level of camaraderie, which I found to be really cool. So if you’re thinking about joining a club and want to try something new then I would stronlgy suggest you join the King’s Players. I know I don’t regret that decision one bit!
My name is Shasta Tunks and I have been a member of the King’s Players Theatre Company for the past three years and every year is the same. There is excitement to see old friends, anticipation of meeting new friends, and the goal of successfully doing a production that brings in audiences and creates a sense of fulfillment in oneself for a job well done.

Each year we have a new director, new show, and some new cast and crew members. However, what stays the same is the most important; we are a community. We hang out after rehearsals, during the week, go see movies together, and even hang out over vacation. Besides the yearly musical production, King’s Players also meets weekly for improv and drama games (9:30pm every Thursday night in DL 012, in case you want to check us out!). I am still friends with cast and crew members from my first year who I don’t even see around school anymore. That’s why I believe everyone, first, second, third, and fourth year students, should all try out for next year’s musical, whatever it might be. I’ve heard students say that they didn’t try out because they didn’t know anyone else who was. I say you don’t need to know anyone going into it. By the time you’re done the first rehearsal you’ll have made so many new friends!

Don’t forget to check out Grease at the Palace Theatre.
