This tri-color map's style is based upon the aesthetic of my favorite map that I own, which is a circa 1956 Kroll map of the Olympic Peninsula. I found that map in an antique store in pretty great condition.
I added the halftone patterns to give it a little exaggerated feel of the mid-1950s graphic aesthetic approaching pop art. I wanted to take the things I love about that old Kroll map, and make it ever-so-slightly exaggerated in a delicious way.
This map will be hanging alongside the other maps in this series in the map gallery at NACIS' 2018 conference in Norfolk, Virginia in October.
