Cockatoo Island Re-branding

Cockatoo Island Re-branding

Cockatoo Island, the UNSCO world-heritage listed island in the middle of the Sydney Harbour, has been famous for its history and industry. This group project that aimed to reinvigorate the island, to take on board all of these historical and present events and unite them into an innovating, cultural, artistic and coherent experience.
The top of the ‘C’ is a bold, splash of yellow. Homage to the original naming tool, the Yellow Crested Cockatoo. The bottom half, connecting itself to the yellow crest is the representation of the water and its movements as it connects and surrounds the island. The very bottom lies the other half of the ‘C’ letter. This represents the contrasting aspect of Cockatoo Island. It tells the tale of the marine vessels, submersing themselves into the oceans below. The industrial revolution and machinery is also present within the strength of the ‘C’ stroke and the sharp, right-angled corners.
The Values
Nourishing: For the mind, body & soul.
Explorative: Discover the history, arts & culture.
Embracing: Take in opportunity for growth & culture.
The pattern was designed from the ‘water droplet’ section of the logo. It’s where our values lie. It holds the energy of the brand and plays a big role in connecting the audience with the notion of water. Using our pattern and brand colours, we are able to create a beautiful journey in the simplest of paper forms. We are bright, and we say playful. You will find that throughout the stationary, uniforms and collateral, little pieces of water movement is present which is distinguished by our pattern language.
