Through digitally altered self-portraits, making it possible for me to resemble various celebrities, What if? is a body of work that explores my insecurities. ‘What if?’ is a question that everyone has asked themselves at least once during their life, and this project criticises the general belief that fame and celebrity should be aspired to. Using a single portrait as the starting point, my face is morphed and reshaped through Photoshop to bear a resemblance to Instagram influencers; people looked up to by a vast audience. These modifications are then shaped, coloured, and layered, in such a way as to produce psychedelic faces isolated on a black background, and then presented as large format prints to emphasise the absurdity of wanting to be somebody else.
