La Zona [logo design]

La Zona [Mayagüez, PR]
This is a self started project for a group of businesses/collectives located in Mayagüez. The concept needed to represent the location and the people in it trying to bring a fresh new energy into the area and boost the economy by making art, providing great service, and generally taking care of the area around them. The inspiration was the area around them themselves, where they do their work.
Once I defined the area where the collaborators and other possible members the posible image became clearer and different iterations were produced considering negative ansd positive space, the specific locations, and other factors.
The map concept was accepted, but the typography felt out of place. Using arrows and line art as inspiration new typography was produced. Hidden inside the typography the specific locations are pointed to as soon as it is overlapped with the map.
As an opportunity for visual growth was identified seeing as the hope is that other groups will keep adding more and more efforts. The group decided that as others join, more color will be added to the identity.
