I did a lot of sleep walking and talking as a child. The episodes could be pretty bizarre and disorienting - Waking in conversations that I didn't remember starting, rooms that I didn't remember entering. I once woke to find myself lying in the middle of our home's gravel driveway with little bits of stone clinging to my cheek. On another occasion, my parents found me trying to escape through a second story window. And, in one truly terrifying instance, I awoke in my bunk at summer camp to find my feet caked with dried grass and dirt - debris that hadn't been there when I fell asleep. In these drawings, I tried to channel those bizarre sensations and memories into portraits of a more graceful sleepwalker, unbound from time and space.
