Welcome to Planet Bogä

Welcome to Planet Bogä.

Along with other stupid crazy ideas in junior high and probably like all the other kids did, my friends and I came up with an imaginary universe in which each of us had our own planet with incredibly weird, imaginative names.

My talented best friend named his Zagá. It was taken from a random misheard lyric from Imagine Dragon's "On the Top of the World." He later came up with another random phrase "Samilojia" to go with his planet, making his artist name Zagá Samilojia - he still uses this name today, especially when he produces orchestras and musics. Following this weird naming tradition, I named mine Bogä /bAWguh/. These meaningless odd names, accompanied by imaginary planets, cities, and stories, have been an invisible but indispensable part of our creative journeys.

Before the year of 2018, I have only worked on graphic design as an amateur. My only skill training comes from sketch classes that I took for about a year in 6th grade. However, I have been kept creating works and carrying on my passion for design. Over the years, most pieces I have worked on are digitally created - they are easy to access, edit, and do not require physical materials, as my main focus in science at school kept me away from truly committing to design. For the same reason, probably, it shaped my interest towards communication and informational design.

In high school, I founded a design club named L'ampoule, meaning "the light bulb" in French. We edited and published two issues of magazines named BLING. Besides that, I kept creating works (although I'd rather refer to them as stuff) based on the ideas of Planet Bogä as a getaway from reality into my inner world. Rather than a process of "creating," it often served as a calming, meditative experience that is highly personal. Over the years, I have kept on developing new ideas around Planet Bogä, and it grew from 8-grader gibberish to an outlet for me to bring my inner stories to life, as well as a collection of my creations.

Before today, I have never shared these projects with anyone except for my best friend Zagá, and it was recently he encouraged me to put them out and share my artworks. I feel so excited (and a little scared) to bring out Planet Bogä from my inner world to the world. I’m also very thankful to Zagá for listening to my ideas and supporting me along this journey.

Without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I present you - Planet Bogä.
