My Illustration Exam: Bubblegum

This is my illustration exam. The assignment was to make five illustrations promoting Mentos' new product "Mentos Gum". The illustrations should be funny and depict situations and myths about gum.

The first illustration shows a boy blowing multiple bubbles at a time. This was a competition we had when we were young, although we only blew them through our mouths.
The second illustration shows the well known situation when you open a pack of gum in the schoolyard. Can I please have one??
The third illustration shows a gum myth most pupils have heard: how come teachers are allowed gum when pupils are not? And they even mount pictures on the wall with it! gross! I would never get away with that!
The fourth illustration is the best for promotion. It pictures three people in summer, where two of them are sweating and feeling bad, and one is cool, chill and fresh because he chews minty fresh Mentos gum.
The last illustration shows another gum myth: If you blow really big bubbles...is it possible to take off and fly into space?

I tried to make the illustrations funny. but also decorative, so they could fit on t-shirts without looking too much like advertisement. I used pen and watercolour to show my personal style, and I chose a rough paper for a little bit of texture. I drew the bubbles in Photoshop for another look so they would grab attention and to make them semi-transparent. I chose bright, fun colours to make people want bubblegum by looking at the illustrations.
