Movendus

Movendus is an app that combines multiple booking services into one solution. The target audience is people who are sick and in need of transport to the hospital and people who live outside of the city and don’t have access to public transport.

Challenge
The task was provided by FARA, a Scandinavian IT company specializing in electronic booking systems and transport information connected to public transportation. They wanted us to develop a sophisticated, user-friendly digital solution for multiple booking services.

About the existing service
There are four types of pre-existing services, where potential discounts etc., depending on whether the customers have a requisition or not. A requisition gives discounts for one or multiple trips with the booking service.
Process
We combined methods such as Human-centred design (HCD) and information architecture (IA) during our process. By using IA, we got a better understanding of the complex system. With HCD, we devised our solution and created three iterations during the project periods.

Prototyping
Since the system was so complex, we created separate sketches for the different users before merging all the drawings into one digital prototyping. All the digital prototyping was created in the software Sketch.

Usability testing
The users were generally positive about the Real-time function and the Favorite page because it reduced the time spent waiting for the arrival of their transport. The Favorite page saved time since the users could reuse the same settings they did with their last order. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to test the final prototyping with the target audiences, so we didn’t know if the final concept would work in real-time.

Result
Four types of services are provided: For people with illnesses, either with a requisition or without one. Service for people who live outside the city and can’t take public transport, either with a requisition or without one.

By using Movendus, people can easily book transport via the app and don't need to call the booking service. Once the order is entered, the users can follow up on transport in real time to know when the transport will arrive.

The app also deals with the complex requisition system we have today. Once the users are on board, the tickets will be activated automatically, and a countdown will start showing how much time is left before the ticket expires. If the user orders a taxi, the ticket's countdown will be based on the distance traveled.
New trip
By entering your address, the app will select the recommended transport and provide the quickest and easiest way for the users to reach their destination.
Real-time
After the users order the transport, they can easily follow up the Real-time function to find where the transport is. If the transport is running late, the users will get a notification showing how long they’ll have to wait,  and the Real-time function will also get updated accordingly.
My tickets
When the users enter the transport, the ticket will be activated automatically. The app will show how long the tickets last, whether with time or distance range (this depends on which type of requisition the users have).
Favorites
After the users have been using the app for a while, the app will create a Favorite page on the home page based on the user's habits, and they can easily change the detailed information if needed.
