The Compton Skyline Project
The Compton Skyline Project was a collaborative project devised by Brighton-based artist Steve Geliot which brought together professional artists and local people to create a unique temporary artwork in the heart of a community. It took the form of still and moving images projected onto large rooftop screens after dusk. They were visible from a substantial part of the city and from up to four miles away.
The installation was launched on 16th September 2006 with a street party for residents. It lasted for one week.
Many people were involved in creating the event and thousands experienced it. It developed the talents of people in the neighbourhood and strengthened relationships between them.
