'1/4 of Freedom'
'1/4 of Freedom' is a wall painting of Aistis Kavaliauskas and Jurgis tarabilda, which was created based on Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi sculpture „Statue of Liberty“. The work is an image of the „Statue of Liberty“ which aims to remain the size and proportions of the real sculpture but depicts only one fragment. While reflecting the work in Naujamiestis artists also try not to lose the architectural logic of „Statue of Liberty“. This way a touristic function of the object is changed to the daily routine of people who work there. „1/4 of Freedom“ suggests spectators experience this world famous freedom icon in an unusual context and expression as well as reflect the idea and problems of freedom in the perspective of many voices. The idea of this work is a poetic gesture which responds to cultural exchange.
