"Further Down Each Day"
Digital paint, human heart and mind
The painting was inspired by seeing footage of the devastating wildfires in California in 2017. Multiple fires killed 43 human beings and burned 1,381,405 acres of land. The smoke was seen from outer space. Meanwhile the rest of the nation was burning down in the fires of tyranny. The painting reflects the apocalyptic scale of what is happening as well as the power and courage at the heart of our own refusal to look away. Terror, grief, but resolve. The viewer chooses to be awake and to bear witness.
