COFFEE&CACAO
Coffee&cacao is a project that was born during my 5 months stay on Maui, Hawaii. It was there that I've tried eating raw cocoa beans for the first time. I liked the shape of the fruit. I decided to try to make a pattern using the cocoa fruit as a stamp and coffee as the tint. From all the stains that came out I choose one that I liked the most and proceeded working with it.
I was thinking of a shape or product where I could put the stain and I decided to go for a small plate. It seemed like a natural place for a coffee stain. I used walnut wood for this project and did the plates on a lathe. The stain is engraved by laser.
