OrganiGas - Turning Organic Waste into Usable Energy

OrganiGas

My 4th Year Individual Project was aimed at reducing everyday household waste that went to landfill. My solution was a under-counter unit that intakes organic kitchen waste (vegetable offcuts, food waste, etc), blends it up and mixes it with water and leaves it to sit for approximately 1 month. As new waste is added on top, a specially designed mechanism ensures only the oldest waste is disposed. Over time methane (BioGas) is released and captured by the white removable container/compartment. This can then be used with a variety of products to produce heat, light or electricity.
