This is a print I was commissioned to create by a friend for their new house. The brief was to create a matryoshka style doll print, covered in Russian criminal tattoos, with a yellow and black colour palette. This was so much fun to create and print and I learnt a tonne on the dark but oddly interesting world of criminal tattoos in Russia along the way. This hand screen printed poster is an edition of 25, printed on 200gsm Stockwell cartridge.
This print was inspired largely by the Russian Criminal Tattoo encyclopaedias that were curated by prison attendant Danzig Baldaev.
