Going to put my own work here which will hopefully begin to pile up because I'm just so gosh-darn productive! Starting things off, here's a piece I did pretty spontaneously one day. I'd had a character in mind for a while that combined elements of a dog with a sea creature and who was also a pirate...For now he's called (Salty?) Sea-Dog and here he is looking distraught. Let me know what you think!
Next up I've got this guy. No idea what to call him at the moment (asking the Instagram followers for suggestions). I was really into the idea of Sea-dog (above) as a character and I wanted to start surrounding him with other matching characters. This guy was initially supposed to be the opposite of Sea-dog, his arch nemesis perhaps. All I could come up with name-wise was "Land-hound" which isn't exactly awe inspiring...Finished colours coming soon.
Continuing with this theme, I decided to draw an old version of Seadog (becoming Salty Seadog). I originally drew this guy as a background character in my "Olaf Vs Everything" first season (page 9). But I really liked the idea of him. He sort of reminds me of a pirate/fisherman version of Hellboy. I've tried to do a pose and scene I normally wouldn't draw. Rather than focusing on action, which I often do, I'm trying to play around without how else I can insinuate things and add feelings to my work (it's mushy I know).
I did this because at the time I just really wanted to practice doing some inks in photoshop. I needed something to draw over so when I was coming up with the sketch, I was very aware that it wasn't the best and a tad generic. I'd been reading volume 3 of Luther Strode. Tradd Moore's art gets me super pumped to focus on line work.
