As a media, student, transport photographer, I've created a collection of photography which focuses solely on A66, the last working revenue streamliner locomotive in passenger service.
In the recent months, V/Line has tried to retire the locomotive but with the new timetable approaching fast. It could be the end for A66 as photographers are trying to snap up what is left of the queen of the rails on the Victorian Regional Network.
Entering service on 22nd March 1985 after being rebuilt from B66 which has done 5,169,500 km, it’s career with V/Line started. A66 operated freight then onto the Bacchus Marsh, Geelong, and Seymour services for a few years before being rostered onto just the Seymour Line until 25th of January 2017 where it was placed onto Bacchus Marsh services.
Currently based out of Bacchus Marsh and operates two trains each day, A66 is the locomotive that doesn’t want to retire. Currently, in the V/Line “Red, Grey, Yellow” or the unofficial name “cheeseburger”, it has a history of liveries from V/Line’s “Orange & Grey” to V/Line’s Red & Blue.
