What You Need To Know About Wine Pairing
It doesn’t hurt to fancy up a dinner with a bottle of wine.  Of course, ordering wine can be nerve-wracking especially for the uninitiated.  You would think that if you order the wrong type of wine, it will reflect poorly on you.  Wine is an acquired taste and takes a bit of getting used to.  There’s a right wine that goes perfectly for specific meals.   So whether you’re out on a date or buying groceries for a dinner you’re making tonight, here are points that you need to know about wine pairing.

Wine isn’t simply paired with food.  A lot of external factors are considered like the season or the weather.  If it’s summer, consider something light, a rose, or something light, like a refreshing white.  If it’s the winter, try going for something warmer like a Shiraz.

When it comes to pairing wine with food, there are a few easy-to-follow principles that can guide you.  Sweet wine is excellent when paired with salty food as contrasts help highlight taste.

Some wines have high acidity.  A good match to this kind of wine is something with equally high acidity.  Just make sure not to add too much salt in your meal as this could highlight the acidity.

Lastly, heavy wine goes great with heavy meals like meat, roasts, and stews while low tannin wine is perfect for white meats or proteins.
