Positive Posters 2012

For the third year running the Positive Posters competition offers designers from all over the globe the chance to make a difference by creating a poster that creates awareness of important issues in todays society.
I entered two posters into the competition. The first uses iconic imagery to create awareness for the treatment of workers at manufacturing plant Foxconn in China who create and assemble parts for Apple products. In the past three years twenty two Foxconn workers have committed suicide as a result of poor treatment, the majority throwing themselves out of the plants windows.

The second poster takes aim at bride burning in India. Husbands, disappointed at the size of the dowry received from the brides family decides to douse his bride-to-be in kerosene and burn her to death in order to get back at her family. There are hundreds of bride burnings every year and very few husbands brought to justice

My poster ‘The Apple Falls Far From The Tree’ was selected from over fifteen hundred posters for the top thirty exhibition at Thousand Pound Bend.
