Behind Every Kick is a non-profit project, initiated and produced by the brilliant team at Don't Panic Partners, London. I came in to rework the layout & user experience to create clear, bold and engaging interaction and communication. You can get involved in the project at behindeverykick.org
Background
__
Don't Panic Partners have long been known for being innovative in their design and marketing style. They're prone to looking for a eye-catching and smart new ways of approaching an issue or a project, and make bold statements with a lot of heart.

Behind Every Kick is a project with all the DPP hallmarks. It was born out of a love for footy and for our local community of Hackney, and wanting to do something positive for our neighbourhood. In an era of alarmingly escalating house prices and increasingly crowded cities, the amount of outdoor space we have in our cities is rapidly shrinking. When our open spaces get taken up by new real estate, and high profit office buildings, our communities lose the spaces where we used to be able to get to be outside, meet others- make, create & do.

Most affected by the lack of these spaces is the younger generation, who just don't get outside as much as a result. 13-21 year olds are at a vital age of learning and growing, trying to work out what they're doing in life - and let's face it, just having an all-round challenging time.

Having a kick around is a good time, it's good for your health, it's great for socialising, it also teaches leadership, perseverance and how to work in a team. Only thing is that it's kind of a hassle to arrange a couple of teams to have a regular game. And also, because our cities don't have these spaces freely available, we now have to book and pay for our time on a pitch. Not many 13-21 year olds get games organised.

Don't Panic Partners organise their own Thursday night weekly work kickaround. And they figured - sure let's just organise a kick around for everyone then. The project is called "Behind Every Kick" a line taken from the famous quote by Dennis Bergkamp, "Behind every kick there has to be a thought"

The idea of the name is that the project is about more than just playing footy. It's about planting the thought that- if you set an intent and work hard, you're always in with a great chance of winning. In all ways in life.
