Greenpeace: Photo Not Found

Who: Greenpeace
When: Jan -- Nov 2009
What: Regional guerilla awareness campaign (SE Asia)
Why: To stop the habitat destruction of Asia's iconic fauna
THE CHALLENGE:
They say a picture speaks a thousand words.
Yet what if there were no more forests to photograph?
No amazing shots of animals in the wild?
No more tigers.
No orang utans.
No pretty pictures.
In fact, no images at all.
Just "photo not found"?
THE SOLUTION:
This interactive campaign takes a fresh approach to photo-searching. If you search: rainforest, tiger, orangutan, jungle, wild, animals etc., the search results promise amazing pictures of Indonesia's natural beauty. On clicking however, each thumbnail states "photo not found".

Your choice: Find out how to join Greenpeace and save the orangutans habitat... or do nothing and resume your search.
AND THE RESULTS:
One big result was the publicity this campaign helped generate, receiving hundreds of mentions in regional news channels and blogs. And with the contribution of thousands of new petitioners, the big news was two major legislative wins for habitat conservation in the Indonesian parliament.

Finalist:
2009 Cannes Cyber Lions
Honoree, People's Choice
